Sunflower - Moulin Rouge

It is pollenless and is excellent for cutting. It is an excellent cut flower and can be used for a short border. They are drought tolerant but will require considerable moisture to grow and flower profusely. The Moulin Rouge sunflower, 'Helianthus annuus (Hybrid)', is a rich velvety, deep red sunflower. A second planting 2 weeks after the initial planting and a third planting 2 weeks later will produce attractive foliage and flowers until the first fall frost. It will produce 4 to 6 inch deep red flowers that will produce summer into fall Moulin Rouge sunflowers will grow in almost any soil. Columbine - Rocky Mountain Blue The Columbine Rocky Mountain Blue, 'Aquilegea caerulea', contains nectar in the tip of the petal's narrow spur that can only be reached by hummingbirds. It is the state flower of Colorado. This is a great addition to any perennial garden. The Rocky Mountain Blue Columbine blooms for 3 to 6 weeks in May and June and earlier in mild climates. The foliage has a finely textured, lacy appearance, looking somewhat like a maidenhair fern. In areas where summers are hot and dry, Columbine prefers light shade.
