Scabiosa - Pink Passion
The Scabiosa 'Pink Passion', provides a nonstop display of pink Pincushion flowers bloom above compact foliage. Pink Passions are the nearest thing to a perpetually-blooming hardy perennial we've seen. It is best to plant Scabiosa in full sun, with well-drained soil and should be watered regularly throughout the warmer months to increase its overall performance. Deadheading after the first bloom will encourage repeat bloom time. ‘Pink Passion' is great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds and does excellent in rock gardens. It will do excellent for front-of-the-border areas, with Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam', Dianthus 'Bath's Pink', in mass plantings or as cut flowers. Mullein - Bananna Custard The Verbascum Banana Custard, 'Verbascum hybridum', also known as Mullein, has huge, two-toned flowers that are useful in any perennial garden. The flowers are bright and light yellow, making it different from the rest. The foliage is light green, which adds contrast to the flower color. ‘Banana Custard’ has a plant height of 2-4’ and a plant spread of 1-2’ and blooms from late spring into summer. Removing spent flowers to encourage additional bloom time. This low maintenance perennial requires dry to medium soil and should be planted in full sun for best results. Verbascum will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but must have good drainage or it could be fatal. ‘Banana Custard’ can be planted in rocky slopes to add color, as a border plant or in cottage gardens.
