Black-Eyed Susan Vine Spanish Eyes
They are excellent in window boxes and hanging baskets. The Black Eyed Susan vine can be grown as a quick screen and as a colorful groundcover. The Black Eyed Susan Vine (Spanish Eyes Blend), 'Thunbergia alata', is a vigorous vine with sunset colored, dark eyed flowers. They bloom reliably from early summer through late summer. The Spanish Eye Blend prefers full sun but will tolerate light shade. The Spanish Eyes Blend is a very fast growing vine with a unique blend of warm colors which contrast brilliantly with the dark "Spanish" eyes. The flowers are between 1 and 2 inches wide on a 5 to 10 foot vine. They like rich, moist, well drained soils. Seed the plants after all danger of frost has passed. Vinca - Little Pinkie This plant is also known as devil's eye or sorcerer's violet. It blooms best when other plants are hurting from the heat. It readily reseeds itself and is very drought tolerant. The Vinca Little Pinkie, 'Catharanthus roseus', is the perfect plant for that really hot and dry location. This low maintenance plant prefers regular waterings in sunny hot locations. Little Pinkie Vinca should be planted in well drained soils and in full sun or very light shade. Plant this Vinca in the spring after the last average frost date.
